Kadampa Festivals & Celebrations

The New Kadampa Tradition holds three International Kadampa Festivals – which are the high point of the modern Kadampa year. They are taught by Senior Teachers and consist of empowerments, teachings, meditations and retreats.

These courses are very special and all Kadampas strive to attend them because they reflect the vision of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche – a global community bound by wisdom and compassion dedicated to benefiting others.

The International Festivals are like a microcosm of world peace, and many people say after attending one of these events that they see how world peace is possible.

International Festivals offer a unique opportunity to spend time with thousands of people from all over the world and to see first hand the universality of Buddha’s teachings and the power of Modern Kadampa Buddhism to touch the hearts and transform the lives of people of all nationalities and cultures.

In addition to our International Festivals, Regional Festivals take place each year. Regional courses are a very important part of the modern Kadampa way of life because they give people from many different centers an opportunity to come together to receive empowerments and teachings and to share experiences and inspiration.

They can be National Festivals, usually taught by a Gen-la, or Dharma Celebrations, usually taught by the National Spiritual Director for the region.

Buddha gave his teachings for everyone, not just for particular people. His teachings are international.
