Meditation and Buddhism in St. Petersburg

Tuesdays 7-8:00pm

with Maria Erickson

This class will move to a new location starting August 15.

Meditation classes in St. Petersburg teach simple, practical meditation techniques based on the teachings of Kadampa Buddhism. Their intent is to help people to gain a personal experience of inner peace, overcome their daily problems and find real happiness in their hearts.

All of our General Program classes are suitable for everyone—from brand new beginners to experienced meditators—and consist of guided meditations, a talk and discussion. Classes are grouped into series of 4-6 weeks, focusing on a theme or meditation technique.

Each class is self contained, though you are welcome to attend the whole course. They provide an ideal introduction to meditation and Buddhism, teaching effective and practical methods for overcoming problems and increasing happiness in daily life.

Note: the Metro Wellness Center closes on or around major holidays. Please check their website for details or to confirm class dates.

Term 6: Aug 13th – Aug 31st

Buddha’s teachings are practical advice that everyone can use to find meaning and happiness in every moment. Whether we are happy or unhappy depends on our state of mind. The three states of mind that constantly interfere with our inner peace are attachment, hatred, and ignorance. Buddha explained clearly how to practice Non-attachment, Non-hatred, and Non-ignorance, which give us the ability to remain happy and peaceful in any situation.
