Compassion Buddha Empowerment: Blessings of Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara and teachings on benefiting the dying

June 16

with Gen Kelsang Chokyan

Avalokiteshvara is the Buddha of Enlightened Compassion. The empowerment is a blissful, guided meditation through which we connect with Avalokiteshvara and receive his inspiring blessings. Our present compassion, however limited at the moment, is our Buddha Nature: our seed of enlightenment. Receiving the empowerment activates this seed and causes our compassion to grow.

With compassion, we can learn how to practically benefit others. For example, one of the kindest actions we can perform is to help those who are dying to pass away peacefully. The ancient practice of “Powa” taught by Buddha, is a special method to help your family and friends have a peaceful and meaningful end to their lives. This practice can be done by anyone.

Our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Chokyan, will grant the empowerment and give commentary to the daily practice of Compassion Buddha Avalokiteshvara on Saturday and give teachings on the practice of Powa to benefit others on Sunday. Everyone is welcome.
